Valentines shaker card with smitten kittens
Hey all! So February is here already - the shortest month of the year and yet its a busy one what with valentines day along with pancake day too - yum yum! I know which is my favourite of the two, which is yours? So today I thought I'd share with you this valentines card I've made using Time for Tea Designs Smitten Kittens Collection and Time for Tea Designs Lots of Love Vertical Cover plate.
Firstly I die cut the lots of love vertical cover plate out of a pale pink pearlised paper before I then took an A6 card blank and covered the front by ink blending distress oxide tattered rose over the complete area using a medium blender brush.
Following this I chose which images I wanted to use from the smitten kittens collection which I had previously die cut and stamped during a mass die cutting and stamping session - I haven't forgotten I will share the process shortly via a specified blog on the subject.
I decided to go with the image of the cat with the box of chocolates along with the chubbier cat with his paw out, these were then coloured using Spectrum Noir Triblend brush pens.
After colouring the images I then die cut a banner in black card, to which I then stamped the sentiment 'I love mew' in versamark ink before covering in wow white embossing powder and heat embossed, then set to one side to cool.
Meanwhile I cut a piece of acetate down to the same size as the heart cover plate before then sticking it to the back of the panel using red liner tape - I chose to use this tape as it holds things down firmly in place. The next step was to add foam tape on the back around the edge of the panel and with the panel face down on my desk I then added lots of pink sequins prior to removing the backing off the foam tape to then adhere the card blank front to the heart panel - due to the sequins it is best to do it this way round otherwise the sequins are likely to go everywhere.
Once the panel was stuck to the card front I turned the card over to then add the cats and sentiment (I cut the banner in half as felt was too long otherwise) to the panel however the cat at the bottom was missing something. Therefore I decided that it should be holding a heart; so I had previously cut out on a dark pink a panel using the lots of love horizontal cover plate and used one of the hearts that was die cut out from that - I felt this completed my card, purrfect!
Here is a little video showing the shaker element of the card:
